Cookie Policy
Last Updated: July 6, 2026
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and provide a better user experience.
NotFootball uses cookies for authentication, preferences, and analytics. This policy explains what cookies we use and how you can control them.
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Essential Cookies (Required)
These cookies are necessary for the website to function. You cannot opt out of these cookies.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Supabase authentication token | Session / 1 year |
| sb-*-auth-token-code-verifier | PKCE security for authentication | Session |
2.2 Functional (Essential local storage)
These items are stored in your browser's local storage (not cookies) and never sent to our servers.
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| nfcc_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent preferences so we don't ask again | Until cleared |
| view_session_id | Random session identifier for counting unique article views without tracking you personally | Browser session |
2.3 Analytics (Optional — consent required)
These tools help us understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it. They are only activated after you give consent, and immediately stop running if you later withdraw consent. No analytics data is collected if you decline.
| Service | Purpose | Data Sent |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel Web Analytics | Aggregate visitor and page-view counts | Page URL, referrer, device/browser type. No personal identifiers. |
| Vercel Speed Insights | Core Web Vitals and page load performance | Device type, page URL, timing data. No personal identifiers. |
2.4 Error Monitoring (Legitimate interest — not consent-gated)
We use Sentry to capture application errors so we can fix bugs. Base error/crash reporting runs for all visitors under legitimate interest (keeping the site working correctly) — it is not gated behind cookie consent. To keep this defensible, it is deliberately minimised: we do not send IP addresses or any other "default" personal data to Sentry, we never attach your account email or user ID to error reports, and auth tokens/cookies are stripped from every report before it leaves your browser. Session replay (video-style recording of on-page interactions) is a separate, additional feature that is gated — it is only enabled if you accept analytics consent, and stops immediately if you withdraw it.
| Service | Purpose | Data Sent |
|---|---|---|
| Sentry (error capture) | JavaScript error tracking and crash reporting — always on, legitimate interest | Error stack traces, browser/OS version, page URL. No IP address, no auth tokens/cookies, no account email or user ID. |
| Sentry (session replay) | Optional recording of on-page interaction to help debug hard-to-reproduce errors — consent-gated | Masked page interactions (all text masked, all media blocked). Only sent if you accept analytics consent. |
3. Local Storage
We also use browser local storage (similar to cookies but with no expiration):
- view_session_id: Track unique article views (privacy-friendly session tracking). Stored in sessionStorage — cleared when you close the browser tab.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may set cookies or otherwise process data in your browser. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of processors, including ones (like Anthropic) that process data server-side rather than via cookies.
- Supabase: Authentication and database (Privacy Policy)
- Vercel: Hosting, Web Analytics, and Speed Insights (Privacy Policy)
- Sentry: Error monitoring and (consent-gated) session replay (Privacy Policy)
